Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was conceived on the
17th of November 1978 in London (Ontario, Canada) to Sandra Kay (Gale), who is
a nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver and furniture mover.
Rachel is English, Welsh and Irish-born. Rachel began acting at thirteen. She
was already performing in Shakespearean plays during summer theatre camps.
Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a BFA in Theater.
Following her first appearance in an episode of Disney's The Famous Jett
Jackson (1998), she co-starred in the Canadian TV show Slings and Arrows (2003)
which was a comedy-drama that focused on the struggles and trials of a
Shakespearean theater group. She received an Gemini award for her performance
in 2003.Her breakout role as Regina George in the hit comedy Mean Girls (2004)
instantly put her on the short list of Hollywood's most sought-after young
actresses. After that, she landed a star turn opposite Ryan Gosling in the
adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks bestseller The Notebook (2004) that was a
surprising box office success that became the most popular romantic drama of a
new generation of moviegoers. Following filming, McAdams and Gosling became
engaged and started dating until mid-2007. McAdams was then able to showcase
her talents onscreen with the manic comedy Wedding Crashers (2005), the action
thriller Red Eye (2005), and the holiday-themed drama The Family Stone
(2005).McAdams then began exploring the world of independent cinema through
Married Life (2007), that debuted at the Toronto Film Festival and also
featured Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper and Patricia Clarkson. Her roles as a
star in the military drama The Lucky Ones (2007) as well as the newspaper
thriller State of Play (2009) as well as the romantic drama The Time Traveler's
Wife (2009) was the next film to follow, and she then starred opposite Robert
Downey Jr. and Jude Law in Guy Ritchie's international blockbuster Sherlock
Holmes (2009). McAdams played the role of the confident producer in Morning
Glory (2010). McAdams also played Owen Wilson's materialistic fiancee in
Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then returned to romantic drama territory
with The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum. McAdams is also in the film with
Terrence Malick in To the Wonder (2012) as well as Noomi Rapace as Passion
(2012) in Brian De Palma's thriller.
